I work as an Integrative counsellor, I am a member of the British association of counselling and psychotherapy, I adhere to their professioanl code of Ethics and Guidlines and I am bound by the 'Ethical Framework for Counsellors and code of conduct'.
I have worked for a local children's hospice since 2003, working closely with the familes and children that attend the service. I provide one to one counselling along with monthly coffee mornings so parents have the opportunity to talk to other parents about their experiences of living with a child with a terminal illness.
Most of my work is around bereavement so I understand the challenges families or individuals have to face. It can bring feelings of isolation, anxiety, shock, confusion and sometimes relief. The body can experience physical symptoms such as weight loss, sleep disturbance and lack of concentration.
I have worked with people that have had lots of different issues that were affecting their lives in some way. What makes my work pleasurable is seeing people progress and move forward, this does not mean that you have to be in long term counselling, change can happen in just a few sessions.
some of the issues I have experience in are:
- Trauma
- Bereavement and Loss
- Addiction
- Substance Misuse
- Low self Confidence
- Depression
- Panic attacks
- Self Harm
- Relationship/Divorce
counselling can offer you a safe and confidential place for you to explore your fears, worries or concerns but also help assist you in your journey of self discovery.
